Correspondent / Hubballi (Karnataka) Bureau : A peculiar incident has emerged from Hubballi, Karnataka, where a newlywed couple had to attend their own wedding reception virtually. This unusual situation arose because of widespread flight cancellations by Indigo Airlines, which prevented the couple from reaching their reception venue in Hubballi.

The video of this unique event has gone viral on social media. The newlyweds are Medha Kshirsagar, a resident of Hubballi, and Sangita Das from Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Both are software engineers working in Bengaluru. Their wedding reception was scheduled for December 2 at Gujarat Bhavan in Hubballi, but due to Indigo Airlines flight cancellations, they were unable to attend in person.
Reasons for Indigo Flight Cancellations –
The couple had booked flights on December 2 from Bhubaneswar to Bengaluru, and then onwards to Hubballi. However, timely service for their flights was not available. According to reports, flights were delayed from 9 a.m. on December 2 until the morning of December 3. Eventually, the couples flight was canceled on December 3.
To provide relief to passengers affected by these cancellations, Indigo Airlines requested a Flight Duty Time Limit (FDTL) exemption from the DGCA. A total of 104 flights in Mumbai and 225 flights in Delhi were canceled. These massive cancellations caused significant inconvenience to numerous travelers.
